Alejandro Tirado caught fire by learning and practicing public procurement. He currently serves as a transformational procurement leader for the City of Providence and the President of the Rhode Island Municipal Purchasing Agents Association (RIMPAA). Before his work at the City of Providence, Alejandro taught political economy at different universities in Mexico and the United States. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Political Economy. At times, his academic perspective has helped him to navigate the intricacies of government operations. Still, the hardest lesson so far has been learning to be patient when trying to modernize government processes.
