Denise has more than 40 years of experience in the financial services industry in retail and commercial lending operations and recently retired after 12 years from Rhode Island Commerce Corporation (formerly RIEDC). She was previously the Executive Director for the Minority Investment Development Corp. and the Rhode Island Coalition for Minority Investment, a microlender for the state, as well as co-founder of the Emerging Women in Business Conference in Rhode Island attracting hundreds of women entrepreneurs at different stages of business development. She has provided consultancy and coaching to numerous small businesses, non-profits, and entrepreneurs. Barge & Associates, LLC was formed in 2009 to provide consultancy for non-profits seeking expertise in board recruitment, financial management, and interim executive management. During her career, she has actively participated on fifteen diverse community boards in a variety of roles, resulting in an extensive and influential network of valued partnerships both locally and nationally.
